Dear yacht-loving sailors and families!
My name is Yoo Jun-sang, chairman of the Korea Sailing Federation.
It has been already ten months since the outbreak of COVID-19, but we have not heard any hopeful news yet.
The 14th Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race will be held in the tranquil sea created by an array of islands of Tongyeong, with beautiful natural scenery, mild climate, and the patriotic spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin. Through the Race, it is expected that we can overcome the pandemic and open a bright future for the Korean sailing industry.
The Yisunsin Cup, the representative yacht competition in the nation, is recognized as one of the three major competitions in Asia, has been elevating awareness of Gyeongsangnam-do and Tongyeong in the globe, and will foster outstanding sailors in coming years. And also, the Race will contribute to the expansion of marine leisure sports and the development of the yacht industry, thereby enhancing the value of Gyeongsangnam-do and Tongyeong, the gateway to Northeast Asia, through friendship and exchange with sailors in the world.
I would like to congratulate and thank three hundred athletes and officials from ten different countries.
As the chairman of the Korea Sailing Federation, I would like to express my appreciation to the citizens of Tongyeong who have created and cultivated a beautiful and rich marine city. Besides, I would like to deliver my sincere gratitude to Governor Kim Kyoung-su of Gyeongsangnam-do, Mayor Kang Seok-ju of Tongyeong City, Chairman Son Khoe-hwan of Tongyeong City Council, Chief Kim Pyeong-han of Tongyeong Maritime Police, Chairman Koo Kil-yong of Gyeongsangnam-do Sailing Federation, Minister Park Yang-woo of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Congressman Jeong Jeom-sig representing Tongyeong and Goseong for their relentless efforts to organize the Race with materially and spiritually.
COVID-19 is the object that we have to overcome, and we pay our respects to the dedication and competence of our yacht fellows who have made every endeavor to prepare for the competition without a hitch.
