Dear sea-loving yacht fellows, welcome!
I sincerely welcome all the athletes and officials who came to Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province, to take part in the 14th Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race, one of the three major yachting competitions in Asia and the best yacht event in Korea.
In particular, I deeply appreciate Governor Kim Kyoung-su of Gyeongsangnam-do, Mayor Kang Seok-ju of Tongyeong City, and Congressman Jeong Jeom-sig representing Tongyeong and Goseong for their relentless efforts to organize the Race successfully.
The Race, which marks its 14th anniversary, has been forced to cancel many regular events because of the COVID-19 and not to invite any audience in the races. However, we will strive to create exciting and pleasant races in harmony with the cool sea breeze. Besides, I wish that this Race will show our hope by overcoming the pandemic through thorough quarantine and safety management like yachts sailing out to the sea.
The Yisunsin Cup has been keenly recognized in the world thanks to the passion of actively participating athletes. And also, we will do our best to make the events run better and hope that the pandemic ends in an early stage so that everyone from the world can celebrate the Race together.
Lastly, I would like to express my appreciation to Minister Park Yang-woo of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chief Kim Pyeong-han of Tongyeong Maritime Police, and many other officials for their great support for the Yisunsin Cup.
I would like to encourage all the participating sailors to show their best performance and to pay attention to their safely in the races.
