Yisunsin Cup

It is a great pleasure to welcome you all to the 18th Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race, held in the beautiful marine tourism city of Tongyeong.

I am Park Wan-soo, the Governor of South Gyeongsang Province or Gyeongsangnam-do, and I extend a warm greeting to the 400 athletes and officials from 10 countries who have gathered here today.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Tongyeong Mayor Cheon Young-gee, Gyeongsangnam-do Sailing Federation Chariman Lee Sang-seok, the organizing committee, and all the dedicated volunteers whose hard work has made this event possible. A special thank you goes to National Assembly member Jeong Jeom-sig, Korea Sailing Federation Chairman Park Bum-kyu, and Tongyeong Coast Guard Chief Lee Sang-in for their invaluable support in hosting this prestigious competition.

The Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race was established to honor the patriotic spirit and maritime pioneering legacy of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, a towering figure in Korea's maritime history. Over the past 17 years, this competition has flourished, becoming a hallmark of international marine sports in Asia.

As we continue to strive towards establishing Gyeongnam Province as a premier marine leisure tourism destination, Tongyeong City stands at the forefront of this initiative. This year has been particularly significant as we successfully hosted the <25-26 Clipper Round The World Yacht Race> for the first time in Korea. We believe this achievement will create exciting synergies with the Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race and serve as a driving force for regional economic growth.

To all participating athletes, I encourage you to showcase the skills you have developed through dedication and hard work. May this event serve as a valuable opportunity to strengthen international friendships and foster camaraderie among all participants. During your stay in Gyeongnam, we hope you will immerse yourselves in our stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, delectable seafood, and the warm hospitality of our local residents.
