Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race

Message

Esteemed guests, dear athletes, and sports officials from both home and abroad, I warmly welcome you all.

First and foremost, we are delighted to host the "18th Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race" here in Tongyeong, a place where the indomitable spirit of General Yi Sun-sin, the national hero, resides.

Tongyeong, often referred to as "Korea's Naples," is renowned for its picturesque landscapes. The surrounding seas and islands, designated as a marine national park, are not only stunning but also brimming with historical sites associated with Admiral Yi Sun-sin, the legendary naval commander. Thanks to these natural advantages, Tongyeong has established itself as a prominent global hub for marine sports.

In this beautiful and bountiful maritime city of Tongyeong, the Yisunsin Cup International Yacht Race plays a significant role in allowing us to experience the profound appeal and intricacies of yachting as a lifelong sport. We believe that this event, steeped in history and tradition, is poised to further develop and evolve from being a renowned Asian yachting competition into a global yachting event. We have high hopes for its continued growth and success.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have provided unwavering support from various angles in preparation for this event. This includes Minister Yu In-chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Governor Park Wan-soo of Gyeongsangnam-do, Chairman Kim Jin-boo of the Gyeongsangnam-do Council, Congressman Jeong Jeom-sig, Mayor Cheon Young-gee of Tongyeong, Chairwoman Kim Mi-ok of the Tongyeong City Council, and Chairman Lee Sang-seok of the Gyeongsangnam-do Sailing Federation, among others. On behalf of the yachting community, we express our sincere appreciation.
